TEHRAN — On a visit to Siahkal jungles in Gilan Province, the head of Department of Environment said that the government has a special plan to protect jungles and grasslands, Mehr reported on Friday.

Natural jungle exploitation except for old trees is prohibited, Masoumeh Ebtekar noted.
Economizing wood usage, planting more trees, and preventing jungle exploitation are of great importance to reserve the forests, she said.

The locals, she pointed, can also play an important role in saving the jungles.

Ebtekar mentioned the programs and budget allocated to solve the issue of waste in Gilan is one of government’s special plans to deal with the waste there.

The official blamed Gilan municipality for not carrying out the project promptly.

Gilan Province is a tourist attraction in north of Iran.
